New Initiative Aims to Improve Energy Efficiency in Disadvantaged Communities in Madison, Wisconsin

WISCONSIN, Jan. 15, 2025: In a significant move to support disadvantaged communities in Madison and Fitchburg, a new initiative has been launched to establish a Community-Based Organization (CBO) Ambassador Network. This network is designed to engage with local residents, providing them with essential information about home energy efficiency programs and assisting them in enrolling in available services.

The initiative is set to make a substantial impact, with plans to deliver energy efficiency and healthy home improvements to 45 multi-family buildings and 50 single-family homes each year. By focusing on these improvements, the project aims to enhance the living conditions of residents while promoting sustainable energy practices.

In addition to improving homes, the initiative emphasizes community empowerment through education and workforce development. Each year, it will offer workforce training to 20 young adults, equipping them with the skills needed to perform weatherization and pre-weatherization enhancements on buildings within the project area. This training not only prepares participants for future employment but also fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility for their community's environmental and economic well-being.

This initiative represents a critical step towards creating more resilient and energy-efficient communities, ensuring that residents in Madison and Fitchburg have access to the resources and support they need to improve their homes and lives.
